2026-06-07

Experience an evening of rare beauty and captivating vocal depth with the celebrated countertenor Jakub Józef Orliński in his Voice Recital at the prestigious Teatro alla Scala Milan! On June 7, 2026, this exceptional artist, accompanied by the sensitive pianist Michał Biel, invites you on a journey through the emotional and virtuosic worlds of the Baroque.

The program focuses on the timeless music of George Frideric Handel and Henry Purcell, two giants of the Baroque era whose works masterfully highlight the lyrical and dramatic range of the countertenor voice. Orliński, admired worldwide for his breathtaking agility, warm tone, and charismatic stage presence, will interpret the arias and songs of these composers with a blend of historical accuracy and fresh vitality. Whether it’s the profound melancholy of a Handel aria or the sparkling virtuosity of Purcell, Orliński’s performances promise to captivate the audience and rediscover the expressive power of this music. An unforgettable evening celebrating the unique vocal artistry of a countertenor in one of the world’s most revered opera houses.

This Voice Recital is dedicated to the works of two pivotal composers of the Baroque period, who significantly contributed to the development of English and European music.

  • George Frideric Handel (1685–1759): German-born and later naturalized in England, Handel is renowned for his operas, oratorios, and concerti grossi. His arias are often characterized by great dramatic intensity, lyrical beauty, and technical brilliance, fully exploiting the expressive possibilities of the human voice, including countertenors.
  • Henry Purcell (1659–1695): As one of the greatest English composers of the Baroque, Purcell created a rich variety of works, including operas (like “Dido and Aeneas”), semi-operas, incidental music, and numerous songs. His music is known for its rich harmony, profound melodies, and innovative settings of English texts.

Jakub Józef Orliński is a Polish countertenor who has garnered worldwide acclaim in recent years. He is celebrated for his exceptional voice, which is both powerful and nuanced, his impressive stage presence, and his ability to interpret both early and modern music with great conviction. In addition to his classical career, he is also active as a breakdancer, which underscores his dynamic and versatile personality. His performances are often an experience that transcends the purely musical.

Michał Biel is a Polish pianist and harpsichordist, known as a versatile and sensitive accompanist for singers and instrumentalists. His collaboration with Orliński is characterized by a deep musical understanding and a congenial partnership.
