Marking the centenary of his birth and the twentieth anniversary of his passing, La Scala pays a magnificent tribute to the legendary Maurice Béjart . This emotional choreographic trilogy celebrates the boundless imagination and unique style of a visionary who forever transformed the history of dance.

Framed by two of his most explosive, innovative, and groundbreaking masterpieces—”L’Oiseau de feu” and the hypnotic “Boléro”—the program also introduces a delicate gem to the Milanese stage for the very first time: “Serait-ce la mort?”. Under the expert baton of conductor Kevin Rhodes, this special production seamlessly bridges different musical universes to honor the beauty of memory and the eternal legacy of a true master.

This spectacular trilogy spans three distinct musical and emotional landscapes:
The evening opens with Stravinsky’s L’Oiseau de feu (The Firebird), a powerful, vibrant reinterpretation where the magical bird becomes a symbol of revolutionary spirit, rebirth, and eternal life.
It is followed by the La Scala premiere of Serait-ce la mort? (Is it death?). Set to Richard Strauss’s profound “Four Last Songs,” beautifully performed by soprano Valentina Farcas, this intense work unfolds as a moving journey to the boundaries of memory, exploring farewell and the beauty of life.
The finale features the legendary Boléro to Maurice Ravel’s iconic crescendo. Performed on a central red table surrounded by a male chorus, this spellbinding ritual of pure, primal movement stars beloved Étoile Roberto Bolle on selected dates.
