The Story
The opera is set in Seville and is about the love of the beautiful Rosina and the Count of Almaviva.
Rosina’s guardian Don Bartolo wants to prevent this love because he wants to make Rosina his bride himself for economic reasons. Out of jealousy, he locks Rosina in the house and has her guarded.
Rosina and the Count of Almaviva, who pretends to be a student, want to flee together. The clever barber, who acts as a messenger between the two lovers, is the escape helper. He suggests that the Count disguise himself to visit Rosina.
Don Bartolo’s assistant, Don Basilio, warns Don Bartolo’s guardian that the Count is staying in Seville. Don Bartolo is now trying to speed up the marriage with his ward.
Don Bartolo and Don Basilio try to discredit the Count in Rosina’s eyes by telling her that he lied to her. Rosina regrets having trusted the Count and wants to marry Don Bartolo out of defiance.
Figaro helps the two young lovers. Disguised as a soldier and music teacher, the count manages to break into Rosina’s house.
In the end, the Count clears everything up, revealing his true identity and the reason why he impersonated her as a student. Rosina agrees to marry the Count and Don Bartolo is forced to surrender.
After ups and downs and a lot of confusion, love wins and the two young people get married.
