The Christmas Concert at La Scala, conducted by Daniel Harding , presents two outstanding works of classical music: the Fantasia in C minor Op. 80 for piano, soloists, choir and orchestra by Ludwig van Beethoven and the Symphony No. 2 in D major Op. 36 by Johannes Brahms.
The Fantasy in C minor Op. 80, also known as “Choral Fantasy”, was composed by Beethoven and combines elements of a piano sonata, a concerto and a choral work.
The Symphony No. 2 in D major Op. 36 by Johannes Brahms is one of the composer’s most popular symphonies. Composed in 1877-1878, it is notable for its lyrical beauty, melodic themes, and powerful orchestration.
