The symphony concert with Riccardo Chailly from 13 to 17 September 2024 at La Scala in Milan will offer an impressive performance of Arnold Schönberg’s Gurre-Lieder.
The Gurre-Lieder is a monumental work for soloists, choir and orchestra and is considered one of the masterpieces of the late Romantic repertoire. The work is based on the Danish legend of the same name by Jens Peter Jacobsen and tells an epic story of love, loss and transcendence.
Outstanding soloists will perform for this concert, including Andreas Schager (tenor), Camilla Nylund (soprano), Okka von der Damerau (mezzo-soprano), Michael Volle (baritone) and Norbert Ernst (tenor). With their vocal skills and interpretive skills, they will express the emotional highs and lows of the Gurre-Lieder.
Riccardo Chailly, one of the most renowned conductors of our time, will conduct the Orchestra of La Scala and the Choir. With his deep musical sensitivity and understanding of the work, he will present a stirring and powerful interpretation of the Gurre-Lieder.
