The Story of Coppélia - The Girl with the Enamel Eyes
The ballet Coppélia is about love and jealousy and the dream of using magic to create people.
The action takes place in a small village in Galicia, where Doctor Coppélius has created a beautiful human-sized doll that he intends to bring to life using magic.
Swanilda and Franz are engaged, but the Coppélia doll on the doctor’s balcony draws Franz’s attention, making Swanilda jealous.
The typical dances mazurka and czardas are danced at the village festival. When Doctor Coppélius’ house is broken into, Swanilda slips into the role of the doll and charms Franz.
In the end, everything turns out well and the fiancée’s wedding is celebrated.
