The ballet evening is dedicated to the dancer Vaslav Nijinsky , a sensitive person, fascinating dancer, famous choreographer and visionary. Nijinsky became famous for his jumps, during which he appeared to be weightless and hovering in the air. Vaslav Nijinsky is a celebrated personality, but was also fragile and sensitive.
John Neumeier has explored this extraordinary personality, the dancer, the choreographer, the human being, the visionary, with all its complexity and facets in many of his ballets, driven by a deep artistic, historical, but above all human interest. Choreographer John Neumeier, who recently retired at the age of 85, is a person with strong feelings that he translates into a dance language that is made to last forever.
For the first time, La Scala Ballet will stage its original interpretation of Le Pavillon d’Armide, L’Après-Midi d’un Faune and a new version of Petruška.
