Monteverdi Festival from 13 to 19 June
The Monteverdi Festival takes place every year in the musical city of Cremona. From June 16th to 25th, 2023, the music city of Cremona will be all about Claudio Monteverdi.

The 40th edition of the Monteverdi Festival, on the occasion of the 380th anniversary of the death of the composer Claudio Monteverdi, begins with the performance of the opera “L’incoronazione di Poppea” at the Teatro Ponchielli. The Italian composer Claudio Monteverdi was a pioneer of Italian opera. He was born in Cremona in 1567 and died in Venice in 1643. L’Orfeo is considered the first opera ever.
There is still a chance to join the musical journey to the Monteverdi Festival from 13th to 19th June 2023 to experience some jewels of Italian music history. On this journey, you will be making a pilgrimage along the itinerary of Monteverdi, which the composer traveled many times in his life. The journey begins in Venice, where Monteverdi died, and travels upstream to Mantua, where the “divine Claudio” lived at the Gonzaga court.
