The Marriage of Figaro • Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart • from 30 September to 20 October 2023
The opera Le nozze di Figaro returns to La Scala. The 1981 production of The Marriage of Figaro, directed by Giorgio Strehler, is one of the legendary performances at La Scala. In this year you will experience big names and young artists together on stage.
Le nozze di Figaro (The Marriage of Figaro) is a funny opera by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The opera in 4 acts was first performed in Vienna in 1786.
Le nozze di Figaro was the first of three masterpieces by Ludwig Amadeus Mozart in collaboration with Lorenzo Da Ponte.
The opera The Marriage of Figaro in four acts made its debut on May 1, 1786 at the Burgtheater in Vienna. The story is based on the story The Marriage of Figaro Beaumarchais from 1778. Mozart does an excellent job of depicting the situations and characters in his setting.
Already in the overture, the viewer finds himself in the middle of the crazy day of Figaro and his companions. Mozart’s powerful music guides us through a plot of disguises, broken promises, tricks and unexpected turns, tortured love and fear. The opera ends happily in harmony.
