Leonardo da Vinci was a researcher and inventor. He worked from 1482 – 1499 and from 1506 -1513 at Milan’s Castello Sforzesco Castle with Duke Ludovico il Moro. Here Leonardo created works of art of invaluable value, including one of his most important works, the mural “The Last Supper”. It is now well guarded and with strictly limited access in the refectory of the church of Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milan.

The library of the Pinakothek Ambrosiana, opened in 1618, exhibits the descriptions and drawings of his inventions, the famous “Codex Atlanticus”.
