The Bayreuth Festival traditionally takes place from July 24th to August 26th, 2025 in the Bavarian city of Bayreuth in Germany.
The Richard Wagner Festspiele in Bayreuth
The Richard Wagner Festival is a music festival that presents the operas of the composer Richard Wagner .
Wagner himself had the idea of a special festival to present his own works in a special setting. He was particularly interested in the complete performance of his monumental cycle “The Ring of the Nibelung” and “Parsifal”.
Richard Wagner got his inspiration for the opera Parsifal from Ravello on the beautiful Amalfi Coast, where the Ravello Festival is performed in his honor at the Villa Rufolo.Every year thousands of Wagner fans come to Bayreuth to see the composer’s performances.
Another opportunity to see Richard Wagner’s complete Ring of the Nibelung cycle is the March 2026 performance at La Scala in Milan. Find our offers here.
Bayreuth Festival Performances 2025
Richard Wagner wanted a theater where he could realize his ideas about his total work of art and concentrate fully on the performance of his works. In 1871, Wagner decided on Bayreuth as the location for the music theater, which should be located away from the metropolises. architectural innovations included the huge orchestra.

How do you dress for the theater?
We often receive questions about dress codes. Please allow us to give suggestions. It’s all about making you feel comfortable and not out of place. There is no strict dress code.
Going to the theater is an emotional experience. We recommend an elegant summer wardrobe; men are well advised to wear a suit with a bow tie or a shirt and trousers. We recommend a summer dress for women. You are also well dressed with elegant trousers. There’s no way you’re going to be turned away if he comes without a tie and she’s wearing flat shoes. But you may feel better if you can empathize with yourself and be confident.
It is not allowed to wear shorts, tank tops, slippers, or beachwear.
