“Der Rosenkavalier” by Richard Strauss returns after eight years in Harry Kupfer‘s production back to La Scala in Milan. For the popular opera based on the libretto by Hugo von Hofmannsthal, Kirill Petrenko will conduct the orchestra of La Scala, the chief conductor of the Berlin Philharmonic.
The opera is set in 18th-century Vienna and tells a story of love and renunciation in the 18th century. The production is set in an atmosphere of dim elegance to the masterly music of Richard Strauss. The texts are by Hugo von Hofmannsthal, who has created a captivating plot that immerses viewers in the life of the nobility and bourgeois society of the time.
The cast of the production includes renowned singers such as Krassimira Stoyanova, Günther Groissböck, Kate Lindsey, Sabine Devieilhe and Piero Pretti as the Italian tenor.
