The Story of DON GIOVANNI
“Don Giovanni” is an opera by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart that tells the story of the unscrupulous seducer Don Giovanni. Set in the 17th century, the action follows the adventures and consequences of Don Giovanni’s insatiable desire for women.
The opera begins with a dramatic incident: Don Giovanni tries to seduce Donna Anna, but she resists and her father is killed trying to protect her. Donna Anna and her fiancé Don Ottavio swear revenge.
Continuing his seductions, Don Giovanni comes into conflict with various characters, including Donna Elvira, a woman he once seduced who is trying to hold him accountable. Don Giovanni also seduces Zerlina, a young bride, provoking jealousy in her fiancé Masetto.
As Don Giovanni continues to live his debauched life, he tries to escape the consequences. But in the end he is confronted with the consequences of his actions. The stone statue of the Commander he had killed appears and calls Don Giovanni to account. Despite all the remorse and pleas, he is dragged to hell by demons.
