The Story of Il Lago dei Cigni
Prince Siegfried meets the mysterious Odette, a princess transformed into a swan by the evil sorcerer Rothbart. Only true and faithful love can break the spell that binds her and the other enchanted maidens. At a royal ball, Rothbart tricks the prince into declaring his love for Odile, the Black Swan, believing she is Odette. Realising his fatal mistake, Siegfried returns to the lake to seek forgiveness. Depending on the version, the story ends either in tragedy or redemption, but always celebrates the triumph of love over darkness and the enduring power of hope.
