The guided walk takes you through the Sassi of Matera. The trail winds down through the rocky city with the famous Sassi. The visit is very interesting for adults and children, because our professional guides will accompany you and tell the interesting stories about life in the old city of Matera.
You will visit a rock church, a church completely carved into the rock from the peasant civilization. It is also possible to visit a farmer’s apartment where life seems to be standing still. On your tour, you will learn a lot from the lives and history of the people who lived in the Sassi.
At the end of the tour, your guide will accompany you to an excellent restaurant serving typical cuisine with local food. It is located in the heart of Matera in a cave, in the real Sassi. You can enjoy a delicious 4-course menu there, along with local wine and, at the end, an Amaro. The restaurant in the Sassi is beautifully designed and decorated. The interior consists of large vaults with a floor-to-ceiling glass window. In fine weather, you can sit on the terrace in the breathtaking atmosphere of the Sassi.

The above price has been calculated for 4 participants including entrance fees. Exclusively and privately for only 2 people, it costs about twice as much per participant. Please let us know the number of participants and special wishes with your request. This product can only be booked as part of a complete travel program with hotel accommodation. The tour takes place in all weathers. You need comfortable shoes and some stamina for two and a half hours of walking. The path through the rocky town is unsuitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs since there are some narrow passages and lots of uneven steps.
Pick up from your hotel or the meeting place of Cathedral square, where your guide will be waiting for you and the tour begins.

Tour of the “Sassi”. Get to know the construction of the cave settlement and a former apartments where people lived with their animals. You can visit a rock church with frescos dug entirely into the tuff stone. Then walk across the Church on your way away.
Lunch at a restaurant in the Sassi. You can enjoy a delicious 4-course menu there, along with local wine and, at the end, an Amaro.
