Macerata Opera Festival - Sferisterio Macerata
On July 29, 2025, the prestigious 61st Macerata Opera Festival will present a special ballet evening at the spectacular Arena Sferisterio. To celebrate the 150th anniversary of the premiere of Georges Bizet’s most iconic opera, the festival will stage Carmen Flamenco — a vibrant dance performance by the renowned Antonio Gades Company, created in collaboration with filmmaker Carlos Saura. Inspired by Prosper Mérimée’s original novella, this flamenco interpretation reimagines Bizet’s Carmen in a unique fusion of opera and Spanish tradition.
Through powerful choreography and dramatic flamenco rhythms, the ballet captures the passion, freedom, and tragic beauty of Carmen — the ultimate symbol of sensual independence. This emotionally charged performance promises an unforgettable evening under the stars.

As soon as we have your request we will check the availability. The best tickets for this event will sell out quickly. So please plan early. Also, this is the peak season for the holiday region and the best hotels will be sold out quickly as well.
