In the 2026 season, the Sferisterio Macerata transforms into a vibrant stage for Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia, directed by Daniele Menghini. Musical direction is in the expert hands of Gianluca Martinenghi, leading the FORM-Orchestra Filarmonica Marchigiana to new interpretative heights. The cast promises vocal brilliance: rising baritone Grisha Martirosyan portrays the wily Figaro, while Ruzil Gatin as Count Almaviva and Raffaella Lupinacci as Rosina embody the lovers with technical perfection. Comedic highlights are guaranteed by Marco Filippo Romano as Bartolo and Riccardo Fassi as Basilio. Together with the Coro Lirico Marchigiano “Vincenzo Bellini” conducted by Christian Starinieri, this production masterfully utilizes the unique acoustics of the Sferisterio’s 100-meter wall. Through disguises, misunderstandings, and musical showstoppers like the famous aria “Largo al factotum,” one of the wittiest comedies in opera history unfolds. Rossini’s sparkling wit and rapid-fire ensembles make this work a timeless delight.
