Plot and History of La bohème
La bohème, Puccini’s timeless opera, first premiered in 1896 at the Teatro Regio in Turin under the direction of the renowned Arturo Toscanini. The opera draws its story from Henri Murger’s Scènes de la vie de bohème, portraying the bittersweet lives of young bohemians in Paris. The plot follows Rodolfo, a poet, and his love affair with Mimì, a fragile seamstress, as well as the turbulent romance between Marcello, a painter, and Musetta, a vivacious singer.
