Do you love Italian cuisine and the top wines of Piedmont and would you like to enjoy the best dishes and the soothing landscapes of the vineyards for a week?
Your food and wine trip take you to Piedmont, the land of slow food and top wines. On your gourmet travel to Italy, you will be pampered by star chefs and get to know the special products that nature creates. When you visit wineries and farmhouses, you will taste the typical local dishes, which depend on the season and are always freshly prepared.
You can drive your own car or we can provide you with a convertible for the tour or a minibus with a driver. This depends on your wishes.
You drive comfortably through the hilly landscape of Piedmont. On small quiet streets you can enjoy the view over vineyards and the small towns on the hilltops with their protruding church towers.
On the way you will make stops in selected places to visit a castello, visit a cheese maker and take this opportunity to taste the selected Piedmontese cheeses with a glass of wine.
On your round trip you will spend the night in three selected hotels and take excursions from there. You get to know the beautiful city of Turin. The capital of Piedmont was also the capital of Italy under the rule of Savoy. This wealth still shapes the cityscape today.
The Piedmont region is synonymous with top quality wines; red wines such as Barolo and Barbaresco, Nebbiolo and Barbera are produced here. The best white wines include the Arneis and Gavi, not to forget the sparkling wine Asti Spumante and the dessert wine Moscato d’Asti. The landscape of the vineyards of Langhe Roero and Monferrato are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. In Piedmont there are almost 18,000 wineries that are in tough competition with one another.
World-famous products such as the Piedmont cherry and hazelnuts, which put Nutella on the road to success, and the Carmagnola mint in tic tac grow in Piedmont.
The most expensive product, however, is the white truffle, which achieves top prices at the truffle fair in Alba. On your trip you will take part in a truffle hunt and learn how and where the delicacies are hidden in nature.
The day visit to Turin takes you to the former capital of Italy. The beautiful architecture and the delicacies testify to the wealth of Turin in the time of the House of Savoy. Your guide will visit a historic café with you for tasting.
You visit Barolo in the middle of the land of great wines. The long tradition of the king of wines can be felt in every corner of the village, in the quiet alleys and the long-established family-run restaurants, but also in the character of the people. Friends of the pagan wine cult pay homage to Barolo from time to time with a “pilgrimage”.
The castle of Grinzane Cavour is located in one of the most picturesque landscapes of the Langa
Count Camillo Benso di Cavour played a central role in the unification of Italy and he was the owner of the Grinzane Castle. A museum was set up in several rooms. Here you can see a kitchen from the 17th century, as it was typical in the Alba area, as well as objects that were used for the preparation of truffles, dishes and wines. A distillery has been preserved from the 18th century.
Cherasco is located in the Langa Barbaresco wine region. You have time to stroll through the alleys with old shops. Take a walk in the hazelnut grove and try the famous Piedmontese
Hazelnuts, from which the Nutella is made.
The pretty medieval Alba is located in the wine-growing region of the Langhe. You can find Alba’s main product everywhere: truffles. Every year the truffle fair takes place in Alba.
Pollenzo has ancient Roman roots. Today it is home to the University of Gastronomic Sciences. The world’s first university for gastronomy was developed in 2004 by the founder of the Slow Food movement.
