The Plot of La Bohème
In their cold Parisian garret on Christmas Eve, the poet Rodolfo unexpectedly meets his neighbor Mimì, a fragile seamstress. They fall instantly in love and join his friends at the Café Momus, where the painter Marcello rekindles his tumultuous relationship with the fiery Musetta. As winter deepens, Rodolfo grows distant, torn by Mimì’s worsening cough and his inability to care for her. They decide to separate but reunite months later in the garret. The friends rally to help the now gravely ill Mimì, but their bohemian joy gives way to sorrow as she succumbs to her illness in Rodolfo’s arms, leaving him utterly heartbroken.
