The ballet evening is dedicated to the two dancers and choreographers Serge Lifar and Roland Petit.
Sergei Mikhailovich Lifar was born in Kyiv in 1904 and followed Bronislava Nijinska to Paris, where, as Serge Lifar, he became a ballet star of the 1930s and 1940s and later had a say in the development of ballet worldwide with his choreographies.
