The opera Falstaff is the last opera by Giuseppe Verdi. It premiered in 1893 at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan.
Arrigo Boito’s libretto is based on the comedy The Merry Wives of Windsor and scenes from the plays of Henry IV by William Shakespeare.
Falstaff was Verdi’s second comic opera after the first “King for a Day” was unsuccessful.
