Die Walküre, the first day, takes place in the human world with the protagonists Sieglinde, Hunding and Siegmund. Sieglinde is Hunding’s wife and Siegmund appears wounded in her house, where he is being cared for by Sieglinde. The two feel a deep connection to each other.
Wotan fathered more Wälse, which earned him the punishment of his wife Fricka. The Valkyrie Brünnhilde is Wotan’s favorite daughter.

The Valkyrie Brünnhilde is deeply moved by this and defies Wotan’s orders. As punishment, Brünnhilde has to sleep in the circle of fire and can only be saved by a free fearless hero. Sieglinde gave birth to this hero as her son Siegfried.
