The 2026 Winter Olympics will take place from February 6 to 22, 2026, in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo. This will be the first time Italy has hosted the Winter Games since Turin 2006. The Games will be held in several regions of northern Italy, including Lombardy, Veneto, and the autonomous provinces of Trento and South Tyrol.
A total of 116 events in 8 sports and 16 disciplines are planned. New to the program is ski mountaineering, which will be an Olympic sport for the first time. The Games are committed to sustainability and existing infrastructure. Over 90% of the venues already exist or are being used temporarily. With 47% of women participating, it will be the most gender-equal edition of the Winter Games.
