The migration drama Winter Journey with music by Ludovico Einaudi and a libretto by Irish writer and journalist Colm Tóibín takes up an explosive political topic and processes it in a poetic vision. It’s about big concerns and about human relationships.
Ludovico Einaudi’s opera Winter Journey premiered in 2019 at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo.
The protagonist in Winter Journey is a migrant who leaves his country and family to seek a future in Europe. Instead of work and happiness, he encounters rejection and cold, a feeling of winter. The story is told from the two perspectives of the migrant and his partner in Africa.
