Hikes around the Lake Maggiore 

There are several hiking areas around Lake Maggiore. To the west is the Monte Mottarone with its 1491 meters height. It is easily accessible from Stresa and Baveno. There is also a cable car going up because in winter Monte Mottarone becomes a popular ski area. This part is in the Piedmont region, while the eastern shore of the lake is in Lombardy.
To the east of Lake Maggiore and north of Lake Varese is the nature reserve Campo di Fiori with the Holy Mountain of Varese, which is a World Heritage Site. To the northeast is the hiking area in the Parco delle Cinque Vette, before the border with Switzerland joins in the north.
