Ballet Night: Puccini’s Heroines in Dance
On July 27, 2026, the 72nd Puccini Festival presents a moving ballet evening featuring the celebrated Guest Étoile Eleonora Abbagnato. The performance unites two impressive choreographies that are deeply rooted in Puccini’s musical heritage.
The evening begins with “Between Light and Nowhere” by Ermanno Sbezzo, a meditative work set to music from Puccini’s early opera (Le Villi) and the spiritual Suor Angelica.
The second part features a tribute to the great opera heroines by the Ballet Julien Lestel. Choreographer Julien Lestel brings the tragic and passionate figures from Manon Lescaut, La Bohème, Tosca, and Madama Butterfly to life. Accompanied by the Puccini Festival Orchestra, this night is a rare and emotional fusion of ballet and the composer’s unforgettable melodies, showcasing Puccini’s music from an entirely new perspective.
