Program Description from Naples (Napoli) to Pompeii and Vesuvius
As a first stop, visit the excavations at the former city of Pompeii below Mount Vesuvius, where ancient life came to an abrupt halt as a result of the volcanic eruption. For centuries Pompeii was sealed under a thick layer of ash and new finds are constantly being made that make us understand the life of the once rich city.
You will stroll through the cobbled streets with sidewalks, as they originate from antiquity and admire the water system for feeding the numerous fountains and the well-preserved houses with fresco paintings and mosaic floors. This gives you an impressive picture of the lives of the people of the Roman Empire.
Then drive to an altitude of about 1000m through the lush nature of the nature park to the crater of Mount Vesuvius. From the parking lot to the summit of the crater, about 300 meters of altitude can still be mastered on uneven terrain. For insurance reasons, in the area of the crater, your guide may only translate in the presence of a volcano leader.
An unforgettable experience is the view from the 1300m high Vesuvius into the distance and into the mouth of the crater. They overlook Herculaneum, Pompeii and the densely built Gulf of Naples and get a glimpse of the fragility of our nature up close.

The quoted prize was calculated for 8 participants without travel costs to give you an orientation. It includes entrance fee to the open-air museum Pompeii, but not the transportation to Pompeii. We can suggest public transport or provide private limousine service depending on your preferences. This product can only be booked as part of a complete travel program with hotel accommodation. Please let us know your requirements.

Notes
Mount Vesuvius is a dormant volcano that is well guarded. Still, there is a risk. It may happen that the park is closed at short notice and the tour is cancelled. We have to live with that risk.
For the guidance and ascent to the volcano you need comfortable shoes and some stamina.
The tour is not suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs.
