The Puccini Festival takes place every summer in the beautiful Tuscan town of Lucca. Six years after his death, La Bohème was first performed on the natural stage of the lake of Torre del Lago. In 2008 the floating stage was opened for Puccini's 150th birthday. The maestro described Torre del Lago as his paradise with exceptionally beautiful sunsets. The maestro loved his homeland very much. He was born in Lucca and his villa became the mausoleum where his tomb is located.
