Opera: Quartet
Opera by Luca Francesconi
La Scala, Milan
Description
The Quartet is an opera in one act and 13 scenes for 2 actors by Luca Francesconi. He was born in Milan in 1956 and studied here at the Conservatory.
You guessed it. It is a modern opera with music by the orchestra paired with electronic music. Luca Francesconi was a student of Karlheinz Stockhausen, whom he admires. The quartet is based on a text by Heiner Müller in German, which the composer translated and edited into English. 2011 was the world premiere, of course in Milan at the Teatro alla Scala.
The plot lives in the relationship between the rich widow Marquise de Merteuil, who likes to play with men, and Vicomte Valmont, who has a character quite similar to the widow. Get ready for something spectacular.
The opera is for connoisseurs and well, something special. Please check the relevant directories before booking this music trip.
