On July 5, 2026, at 9:00 PM, the Orchestra and Chorus of Teatro La Fenice return to the world’s most breathtaking stage: Piazza San Marco. This year, the annual summer highlight pays a grand tribute to the legendary composer Ennio Morricone. Under the baton of American conductor Kevin Rhodes, with chorus master Alfonso Caiani, the historic square will be transformed into a realm of cinematic and symphonic emotion.

The program celebrates Morricone’s profound connection to Venice—where he received the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement—and spans his extraordinary career. From the avant-garde “Cantata per l’Europa” to iconic, Oscar-winning scores such as The Mission, Cinema Paradiso, and The Hateful Eight, the evening will showcase the maestro’s immense influence on 20th-century music. As the sunset glows against the Basilica, these timeless melodies will rise from the heart of the lagoon, offering locals and visitors an unforgettable encounter with the soul of Italian film music. More than just a concert, it is a celebration of a genius in the city that long ago embraced his art.
