The opera L’amore dei tre Re (The Love of the Three Kings) is a new production of the Teatro alla Scala, an opera by the composer Italo Montemezzi with an Italian libretto. It had its premiere at La Scala in 1913. Although the opera quickly became famous, it was kind of forgotten after World War II. Ironically, in the pandemic year 2020, L’Amore dei tre Re was back on the schedule and had to be cancelled. The new production from 10/28/23 to 11/12/23 is directed by Michele Mariotti, directed by Àlex Ollé, and interpreted by excellent singers. The Love of the Three Kings is a tragic tale in three acts, libretto by Sam Benelli. It is set in Italy in the Middle Ages, which was plagued by barbarian invasions. The choir and the full orchestra of La Scala will be there as well. The lyrics of the opera are displayed in the original language (Italian) and in English The performance takes 2 hours 10 minutes, intermission included.
