Satyricon is a comic opera composed by Bruno Maderna in 1972. The libretto to the opera Satyricon was written by Ian Strasfogel, based on a 1st-century AD novel by Petronius Arbiter. Satyricon was first performed at the 1973 Holland Festival. The composer Maderna was already terminally ill at this point. The opera Satyricon is a form of improvised musical theatre. The opera Satyricon at the Teatro La Fenice is presented as a comic opera and contains many sarcastic moments around the central episode from Petronius’ book Trimalcione’s Dinner. The theme is the crisis of values in a decadent world and its crass vulgarity. Choose a date for the opera and find your ticket and hotel with our music travel packages to Italy.
