The opera Falstaff is the last opera by Giuseppe Verdi. It premiered in 1893 at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan. Arrigo Boito's libretto is based on The Merry Wives of Windsor and scenes from William Shakespeare's Henry IV plays. It was Verdi's second comic opera after the first "King for a Day" was unsuccessful. The lewd, fat soldier Falstaff is broke and tries to get rich women's money through flattery and deception. You have seen through Falstaff's intention and try to outsmart him, which in turn leads to jealousy and confusion. At the end there is a masquerade with a double marriage that tries to create even more confusion.
