The ballet Sylvia is based on the play Aminta by Torquato Tasso (Sorrento) from 1573. Sylvia, originally "Sylvia, ou La nymphe de Diane", premiered 1876 at the Palais Garnier in Paris. The choreographer Manuel Legris has breathed a new life into the ballet Sylvia, one of the great classics of the 19th century.
