Gaetano Donizetti‘s opera Lucia di Lammermoor returns to Milan. The libretto was written by Salvadore Cammarano, based on Walter Scott’s novel The Bride of Lammermoor. The opera in three acts is a typical example of the bel canto era. Lucia di Lammermoor was first performed in 1835 at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples.
