La finta semplice from January 24 to 29, 2023
The opera La finta semplice (The disguised simplicity) by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart will be performed from January 24 to 29, 2023 at the Teatro Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in Florence.
At the tender age of 12, the child prodigy Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart composed the opera in three acts and five scenes. The suggestion came from Emperor Joseph II, which led to dissatisfaction and envy in the Viennese musical milieu, so that the premiere did not take place in Vienna but in Salzburg in 1769.
La finta semplice is a playful drama based on a libretto by Carlo Goldoni and adapted by Marco Coltellini.
Even as a young man, Mozart showed in La finta Semplice that he mastered the stylistic characteristics of Italian comic opera and refined them with lively music.
