Il trovatore
The opera Il Trovatore by Giuseppe Verdi is divided into 4 acts and each act in two scenes. Il Trovatore or Troubadour, as it is called in English, premiered in 1853 in Rome. The libretto is by Salvadore Cammarano and is based on the play El trovador by Antonio García Gutiérrez.
The opera takes place in Aragon and Biscay at the beginning of the 15th century. Aragon is without a king and it is about the succession and the intrigues associated with it.
The story is about a fellow in love singing self-composed lyrics waiting for the appearance of his dream lady on the balcony above. You can expect beautiful arias from the four main singers. A full orchestra and a chorus add to the overall experience.
