2020-03-18 Opera: Salome | Teatro alla Scala, Milano

A performance at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan is one of the highlights for any opera lover. La Scala is known for its classic pieces and is the ancestral home for Verdi, Rossini and Puccini. Guest performances by international stars enrich the program every year.

At milano24ore we create every year exclusive packages for friends of opera, ballet and symphony orchestras and allow our clients to select early on the performances of interest. With less than two months to go, the best tickets might be sold out, the hotels might have increased prices and things may become difficult. So please plan early.

Premium tickets

Floor plan La Scala, Milan
You get the best tickets from us. Your seats will be in the parquet are, marked in yellow in the drawing to the right. (in Italian called Platea). With premium tickets, you enter the Teatro alla Scala through the main entrance with all the other VIPs. There is easy access to the coat area just a half-floor down. During the breaks, you can enter the “Toscanini Foyer” which is only accessible for premium ticket holders. This is the place where you can enjoy a glass of Spumante and see who is here. Elegant evening wear is recommended. We promise a most gratifying and exciting evening experience.
Unfortunately, we cannot influence the seat allocation within the parquet area. This is done by the theater. However, if you visit in two or three then these seats will be assigned next to each other. The seats are always in the yellow area, which offers the best visual and acoustic experience. On request, we might be able to secure tickets in the loges, but we do not recommend it. Unless you have the whole loge for yourself your view might be very limited and uncomfortable.
If you can make your travel plans three months ahead of the performance then we can guarantee the availability of premium tickets. The performances at the world-famous Teatro alla Scala always sell out.
There are never any remaining premium tickets at the box office on the evening of the performance. Tickets from grey sources might be fake and carry the name of another person.
There are a limited number of seats dedicated to wheelchair users and their party. Please let us know your needs.

Dress code La Scala

How to dress for La Scala?

We often receive questions about the dress code. Please allow us to give suggestions. It’s primarily about making you feel comfortable and not out of place. There is no strict dress code.

Visiting La Scala is a very emotional experience and you are sitting in the best places. We recommend elegant evening wear, gentlemen are well advised in the Smoking or suit with bow tie. Absolute minimum is slags and jacket. We recommend an elegant dress to the ladies, it may, but does not have to be a long dress. You are also well dressed in elegant trousers. You are not rejected if he comes without a tie and she wears flat shoes, by no means. But you may feel better if you can empathize and be confident with yourself.

Entrance to La Scala

With our tickets you can reach the theatre through the main entrance under the columns, where you can get directly into the lower foyer. There is a bookshop. During the breaks there are also drinks to buy.

The cloakrooms are on the right and half a floor below the auditorium on the right.

The Toscanini Foyer

Almost every performance has one break, sometimes long performances have even two breaks. To get into the beautiful Toscanini foyer with the busts of the famous musicians, you have to take the middle staircase from the lower foyer. As it is a historic theater, there is no lift.

On this occasion, you pass the balconies and you can take a look inside. From below, the rows with the balconies look quite romantic, but if you want to spend several hours for an opera in them, it can quickly get uncomfortable, particularly on the stools in the back and in the side balconies. Premium tickets are in the parquet. Best view and comfortable.

The big breaks usually last 30 minutes, then there is spumante or prosecco, of course also water and some snacks.

The inexpensive places in the upper rows of the gallery can only be reached through the entrance via the Theatre Museum. The upper rows also do not have access to the Toscanini foyer.

Taking pictures in La Scala

Photography is permitted during breaks, but strictly prohibited during the performance. The photos may only be used privately, but may not be published or posted. Not even if no people can be seen on it. The laws are quite different here in Italy. You can read this on the internet under the heading “Panorama Freedom.”

Hotels

Hotels

For your music tour, you can choose between hotels 3 to 5 stars and even the 7-star hotel with butler inside Galleria Vittorio Emanuele. You will either share your preferences when booking or we will suggest which hotels offer favorable conditions during the requested period.

We have the following hotels to choose from:

  • 4 stars: Hotel Sanpi, Hotel Marconi
  • 4 stars within walking distance of Scala: Hotel dei Cavalieri, Hotel Sina de la Ville, Starhotels Rosa Grand, Hotel Straf
  • 5 stars: Grandhotel Duomo, Bulgari Hotel, Armani Hotel, Palazzo Matteotti
  • 7 Stars Town House Galleria

Hotel prices depend on the season and whether important trade fairs or meetings take place in Milan. In particular, the furniture fair in April each year is driving up prices. The sooner the La Scala trip is booked, the more reasonable are the prices.

Supplements

Since this is an individually organized music trip for you and your travel companions, we are also very flexible. When arriving on the day of the performance, the day-by-day program can be adjusted accordingly. Special requests are, of course, possible:

  • Additional nights at a preferential price
  • Single room, suite, family rooms next to each other
  • Child care
  • Flower bouquet to the room
  • Private transfers

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I buy tickets for La Scala?

Tickets are available in advance. As a registered client you can buy directly at the Milan Scala. Italian tour operators are not allowed to sell tickets without additional services like hotel or flights. On the Internet you can also find resellers for tickets for the Scala from abroad. Their surcharges are usually very high.

What are the best seats?

It's best to sit in the platea in the middle (stalls). All seats in the stalls have enough legroom and are comfortable. You can see and hear well from all seats in the platea. The front seats in the balconies also belong to the best category. From the side balconies sitting over a long time can be uncomfortable.

How much do tickets for the Milan Scala cost?

The ticket prices depend on the performance. For popular operas and stars, the prices in the best seats are several hundred euros. Ballet is a bit cheaper. Are there any tickets at the box office? With luck you will get random tickets returned to the box office. Then you have to take what you can get. As a gift or surprise completely unsuitable. You unnecessarily waste time. Be careful when sellers offer you tickets at the door of the Scala. Since the Scala has switched to electronic tickets, these tickets might be duplicates. The tickets are labeled with the name of the buyer to combat the black market.

Is it possible to buy last minute tickets for the Scala?

Last minute Tickets Milan's La Scala are very limited, with most shows completely sold out. Premium tickets are often sold out within hours.

Can I buy Milan Scala tickets without hotel?

Yes, there are resellers abroad for Scala tickets, who promise to get the ticket. But beware: The surcharges on the ticket prices, even for the cheap seats, are very high. As an Italian company, we are not allowed to sell tickets without additional services. Therefore, we created nice music trip products at fair prices. We live in Milan and know each other and have direct contact and an agreement with the Teatro alla Scala.

Where to buy group tickets for La Scala?

Thanks to an agreement with La Scala we can arrange for certain dates to get tickets for large groups. We offer these with hotel and supplements organized by us. Unfortunately, we are not allowed to sell just tickets. In Italy only a few licensed ticket offices may sell Scala tickets.

Are there any cheap tickets for La Scala?

There are low cost tickets in the top gallery with limited visibility.

Can you visit the Milan Scala without performance?

You can visit with the ticket for the Museum of the Scala the following areas: foyer Toscanini, spectator area with the balconies of the 4th level. From there you can see the entire auditorium with the stage and the chandeliers. In the case of events or important rehearsals, this area may be closed to the public.

Is there a dress code for the Scala Milan?

There is no strict dress code, tuxedo and long dress is not required. But you should appear elegant. You can enjoy the event much better knowing that you are dressed appropriately. People in jeans or shorts are rejected.
